I had quite specific requirements. I wanted to improve my health and, although this sounds quite vain, improve my physique.

One of the things that appealed to me was the nutritional course and the diet side.

To achieve my goals it wasn’t going to be with high-tech equipment and fancy steam rooms but knowledge and experience.

It proved to me that weight control/loss was very much down to how I had been taught to prepare my food.

This diet educates you on bad eating habits and introduces new eating practices. It contains set levels of calories and protein in several meals a day allowing you to enjoy a variety of your favourite foods in substantial quantities. Basically, I cut out evil junk foods and enjoyed the occasional treats.

Whilst following the healthy eating plan, in only 14 weeks I plummeted from 13stone 6lbs to 10stone 3lbs.

I wasn't sure exactly what to eat and I certainly didn't know how much of it to eat. I had lost a small amount of weight but was getting nowhere fast.

Vern Montgomery introduced me to the sundiet. The theory was well-reasoned and logical and was backed up by years of research and results. It was like someone switching on a light for me, I could see where I was going.

I managed my calories in and calories out for the next three months. I put some structure and control into my diet. I controlled my food, not the other way round.

I understood what a calorie meant and what it did, the effects of too many and equally not enough. I lost in excess of 5 stone but the beauty of the sundiet is you can go as far with it as you want.

I am now able to control my weight to support my training. I stay within 10lb of my ideal weight and confidently know the way back should I become a little lost.

I have been training for two years and although I have trained hard and kept to a strict nutritional regime, I was struggling to achieve the shape I desired.

When I started the sundiet I weighed in at 19 stone 5lbs.

I was told that the whole concept was easy and I found this surprisingly so. I quickly learned all about calories, what they do and how many I actually needed.

I went on 2,000 calories to start with but then reduced them to 1,600. I lost 7 stone in eight months. I continue to live on the sundiet now I have reached my goal. I took tablets daily for two years to help with a stomach condition, one month into the sun diet I stopped taking them, and have not needed them since. I am 29 and have been training on and off since I was 16. It was about seven years ago that I started to take it more seriously. Over the years I mainly trained alone. I read books and listened to people, picking things up on the way.
